Tim Ruhland pitched a complete game shutout to lead Remsen-Union to its first win of the baseball season, 8-0 over Woodbury Central Friday in Moville.
In his first start of the season Ruhland worked all seven innings, allowing no runs on just two Wildcat hits while walking three and striking out six.
"Timmy had the game in control. He's really been chomping at the bit to pitch and he finally got in there and showed what he could do," said coach Randy Frericks. "He pitched a really good game all the way through."
The Rockets improved on a one-hit performance in a loss to Hinton Thursday, collecting six total hits for the game. Nick Schriener led R-U with two singles, while Danny Swalve added a single and two RBIs. Dustin Sievers, Ruhland and Andy Miller also had singles, while Tyler Lilly, Marty McManus and Justin Frericks contributed RBIs in the win.
R-U, now 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the Maple Valley Conference, will return to the diamond Monday to face Kingsley-Pierson in Kingsley.
