SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Darlene M. Thill, 75, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and formerly of Le Mars, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Darlene Mary Bohlke, daughter of Edward and Cecilia (Lanners) Bohlke, was born All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 1929 in Le Mars. She grew up in Le Mars and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1946.
Darlene was united in marriage with Donald Thill in Le Mars on June 1, 1949. The couple lived in Le Mars until moving to Indiana in 1957. They moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1958. Darlene worked in the pharmacy at K-Mart for 13 years before retiring in 1995.
Darlene's life revolved around St. Lambert's Catholic Church, where she and her husband were charter members. Her church activities included Cursillo, Catholic Daughters of America, Young at Heart, Prestige Club and Serra Club. In addition, Darlene served as a Eucharistic Minister, lector and visited the ill of the church at area hospitals.
Survivors include five children, Daniel Thill and his wife, Joan, Canton, S.D., Barbara Thill, Sioux Falls, S.D., Bryan Thill and his wife, Lisa, Sioux Falls, S.D., Paula Ruble and her husband, Pete, Hastings, Minn., Patrick Thill, Sioux Falls, S.D.; 13 grandchildren, Stephen Thill, Scott Thill, Kristen Bunt, Sarah Thill, Jeremy Thill, Angela Thill, Teresa Thill, Matt Thill, Marc Thill, Nicole Thill, Piper Ruble, Pacer Ruble, Tyler Thill; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Thill; one daughter-in-law, Colleen Thill, Sioux Falls, S.D.; five siblings, Floyd Bohlke and his wife, Bonnie, Sioux City, Shirley Traufler, Le Mars, Marilyn Hoffman and her husband, Don, Le Mars, Ray Bohlke, Le Mars, Lois Hageman and her husband, Lamont, Hinton; a sister-in-law, Delores Bohlke, Kingsley; a brother-in-law, Arnie Welter, Carroll; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on April 29, 1977; a son, Dean; a brother, Clayton Bohlke; a sister, Rosie Welter; and a brother-in-law, Bill Traufler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Lambert's Catholic Church, with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 4 p.m. today (Tuesday) at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Visitation will resume at 6 p.m. at the church, with a liturgical wake service beginning at 7p.m., followed by recitation of the rosary and the family present to greet friends.
