The Le Mars Community freshman girls' basketball team dropped its first nine games of the 2004-05 season, but the Lady Bulldogs rebounded to win five of their last nine games to finish at 5-13.
Lizzie Neihus knocked down 49-of-125 shots on the season and finished with a team-leading average of 6.5 points per game. Nikki VanGrouw added 4.6 points and a team-high five rebounds per contest, while Keisha DeRocher chipped in 4.5 points a game. Kourtney Rieken handed out eight assists to lead the team.
The Lady Bulldogs only attempted 10 3-pointers the entire season but made five, led by Megan Feller's 3-for-5 shooting from long range. Kacee Athay added a perfect 1-for-1.
Post player Morgan Rolfes contributed 62 rebounds on the year and Crystal Plueger grabbed 46.
On the perimeter, the Lady Bulldogs got contributions from Caitlin Madden (26 rebounds, 20 steals), Cassie Lassen (13 rebounds), Whitney Durr (5 rebounds) and Amanda Ruden (3 rebounds).
DeRocher and Feller each averaged two steals a contest to lead the Lady Bulldogs to 152 steals as a team. VanGrouw also blocked a team-leading 13 shots and Neihus added 11.
