Sena M. Oltmanns was born April 18, 1903, in Jever Oldenburg, Germany the daughter of Bernhardt and Katherina (Sidden) Oltmanns. As a small child, Sena immigrated with her family to the United States and settled on a farm east of Craig. Sena was united in marriage to Frederick Johann Pageler on July 8, 1925. Fred died July 27, 1940 as a result of a farming accident. Following Fred's death, Sena moved to a farm northeast of Craig and lived with her brother George until his death in October 1981. In 1983, she moved to Le Mars.
She was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Gene and Gary Pageler of Le Mars; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Pageler of Hinton; two sisters-in-law, Regina Oltmanns of Le Mars and Lil Tammen of Luverne, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Sena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick J. Pageler; a son, Alvin Pageler in 2002; and four brothers, Gert, Adolph, George, and Henry Oltmanns.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Craig, with the Rev. Pete Petersen officiating. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. (today) Monday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present after 6 p.m. to greet friends followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to service time.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Koerselman, Loren Pageler, Kevin Oltmanns, Rick Jensen, Edwin Oltmanns, and Scott Renken.
