Scott Reid Hemmingsen, 52, of Akron, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Parsons, Kan.
Scott was born Oct. 25, 1952, the son of Gail and Miriam Hemmingsen. Following his graduation from the Akron High School, he was an electronic technician for the U.S. Navy. Scott was an avid musician and toured with several popular musical groups in the 1970s.
Scott was a true outdoorsman, and loved fishing, hiking, biking, running, and camping. As an electrical engineer, Scott traveled to numerous countries throughout the world in his lifetime.
Survivors include his daughter Jessica Wineland, her husband Matt, and granddaughter, Kennedy; his parents Gail and Miriam Hemmingsen, brothers, Alan and his wife, Cindy Hemmingsen, Bruce Hemmingsen, and Craig Hemmingsen; seven nephews and two grand-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, a nephew Ryan Hemmingsen, and an Uncle, James Hemmingsen.
A memorial service will be held today (Monday, March 7), from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron.
