Eva Susan Huckle Boge was born Dec. 13, 1923, at Le Mars, the daughter of Aloysius and Catherine (Bender) Huckle. She graduated from Le Mars High School. On Sept. 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Eugene Boge. They lived in North Buena Vista until 1949 when they moved to a farm north of Charles City where they would spend their lives together.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Circle and V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Eva's interests included sewing, gardening and swimming. For a number of years she looked forward to spending their winters in Texas. Eva's family, however, meant everything to her and she made very effort to be a part of their lives.
Survivors include her three sons, Kenny and Pam Boge of Orchard, Roger and Teresa Boge of Klemme, Gordon "George" and Janet Boge of Charles City; three daughters, Linda and Bob Dodd of Klemme, Teresa Boge of Charles City and Norma and Eldon Conyers of Des Moines; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, NOrma L. Boge of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Rita Harms of Le Mars; and a brother, Martin and Lou Huckle of Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 12, 2001; a son, Bernard "Barney" on Jan. 29, 1994; a grandson, Benjamin Boge; a brother, Duke Huckle; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Harms.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Carl Ries, celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in Beckwith Cemetery, rural Charles City. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. There will be a rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the service.
