Kyle Utesch, 23, of Le Mars, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Kyle Jon Utesch was born Sept. 4, 1981, in Le Mars, the son of Randy Utesch and Barbara (Borchers) Vornbrock. He was baptized into the Christian faith on Oct. 11, 1981, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He was confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker, Minn. Early in his childhood, he moved with his family to Walker, Minn., where he attended school through the ninth grade. In 1997, he moved back to Le Mars with his family, and finished his education in the Le Mars school system, graduating from Le Mars Community High School in 2000. In high school, he played basketball and also enjoyed playing baseball.

Following graduation, he went to work for Advanced Brands in Orange City and later for Pella Windows in Sioux Center. For the past couple of years, he worked construction in Sioux City, building homes.

He loved working with his hands, playing pool, snowmobiling, boating, jet skiing, waterskiing, and listening to music. He also loved his car, which was always kept clean and detailed. But most of all, he loved his friends and family, who will all cherish his memory forever.

Survivors include his father, Randy Utesch, of Walker, Minn.; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Pete Vornbrock of Le Mars; a brother, Eric Utesch of St. Cloud, Minn.; maternal grandparents, LeRoy and Pat Borchers of Le Mars; paternal grandparents, Norman and Ellen Utesch of Le Mars; maternal great-grandparents, Fred and Regina Borchers of Le Mars; three stepbrothers, Daniel, John and Joe Vornbrock; his godparents, Bonnie and Tim Rasmussen of Le Mars; six aunts and uncles, Larry and Rosemary Utesch of Riverside, Calif, Cheryl and Greg Myhr of Maple Grove, Minn., Connie and Craig Hoffman of Le Mars, Donna and Fred Zenk of Le Mars, Lorie and Brian Theisen of Le Mars, and Krista and Scott Crowl of Sioux City; and several cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Don and Lillian Parkinson and Grandma Gert; and his paternal great-grandparents, Frank and Ella Utesch.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Le Mars Bible Church, 1550 Seventh Ave. S.E., Le Mars, with Pastor Fred Gums officiating. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy McDougall, Devon McDougall, Erica McDougall, Amber Zenk, Ashley Zenk and Mitchell Zenk. Honorary pallbearers will be Whitney Zenk, Madisen Theisen, Andrew Thiesen, Mackenzie Theisen, Delaney Crowl, Kallie Crowl, Daniel Vornbrock, John Vornbrock and Joe Vornbrock.
