Larry Alan Patterson, 61, of Parker, Colo., and formerly of Le Mars, died suddenly Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at a local hospital in Aurora, Colo.

Larry Alan Pattersn was born March 27, 1943, in Le Mars, the son of Arnold and Gladys (Lundgren) Patterson. Larry was baptized and confirmed at First United Methodist Church in Le Mars. He graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1961. Larry entered the United States Navy on Oct. 3,1961, and was stationed in northern Germany and Scotland. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on Feb. 7, 1966.

Larry was united in marriage to Caroline Wardle in Yorkshire, England, in 1968. He later attended the University of Maryland and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in history. In 1967, Larry began working for the United States Defense Department, and had lived in England and Germay. He worked for the Defense Department for 30 years before he retired from the government.

On Aug. 14, 1998, Larry was united in marrage to Karen Eason at Alice Springs, Australia. After retiring from government work, he began working for Boeing as a technical service specialist. For the last six years, Larry and Karen lived in Parker, Colo.

Survivors include his wife, Karen, of Parker, Colo.; a son, Robert Patterson of London, England; two daughters, Colleen Huber of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Genevieve Patterson of London, England; four grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanine and her husband, Otto Kleihauer of Le Mars, and Sharon and John Alvro of Branson, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Bill Harms.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with Pastor Jason Larson of the First United Methodist Church of Le Mars, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars, with military honors provided by American Legion Wasmer Post 241 of Le Mars. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. Saturday until service time at the Carlsen Funeral Home.
