MARCUS -- Amber Marie Brownmiller, 9, of Marcus, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.

Amber Marie was born Dec. 21, 1994, the daughter of Douglas A. and Rachelle "Shelle" (Johnson) Brownmiller. She was baptized Jan. 17, 1995, at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. She attended Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Schools, and was a fourth grade student. Amber was a social butterfly who enjoyed her family and friends, reading, playing dolls, Girl Scouts and singing. She was very fond of riding on her Dad's Harley-Davidson motorcycle and going with him when he drove his truck. Amber and her mother spent time together shopping and going places.

Amber gave the gift of life through organ donation.

Survivors include her parents, Douglas and Rachelle Brownmiller of Marcus; her brother, Lee, who is in the sixth grade; her grandmother, Donna Johnson of Sioux City; her grandfather, Bud Johnson and his special friend, Sharon Wilson, of Merrill; Brownmiller aunts and uncles, Kirk and Shelia (Brownmiller) Letsche of Marcus, Dave and Cindy (Brownmiller) Steinke of Cherokee, Steve and Debbie (Brownmiller) Puhrmann of Marcus, Glenda (Brownmiller) Mohn of Marcus, cousins Neal and Jack Schreier, Levi Letsche, Stephanie and Lisa Puhrmann and Marisa Heiman; Johnson aunts and uncles, Rod and Ruth Johnson of Wausa, Neb., Ronnie and Melanie Johnson of Clarksville, Tenn., Terry and Bert (Johnson) Slota of Kingsley, John and Chris Johnson of Walthill, Neb., Garry and Rhonda (Johnson) Bottjen of Kingsley, Randall and Emmy Johnson of Spring, Texas, Scott Johnson of Alta, Dean and Gina Loutsch of Remsen, cousins Kari, Kyle, Michael, Jesse, Erin, Andrew, Ben, Tabitha, Gabriel, Tasha, Michaell, Matthew and Michelle Johnson, Allison, Andrea and Dustin Slota, Nathan Nicole and Ryan Bottjen, Natasha, Makenzie and Miranda Loutsch; also several great aunts and uncles, and other cousins.

Amber was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary L. (Rassel) Brownmiller, and her grandfather, LeRoy "Shorty" Brownmiller; and her favorite aunt, Mary Smith.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Marcus High School Gymnasium with the Rev. James Gruber of Peace Lutheran Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Don Meyer of Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Marcus-Amherst Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Friday) at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, with the family present from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Marcus.
