HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. -- Lorene Eberhard Meek, 81, of Huntington Beach, Calif., died Aug. 9, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
Lorene Eberhard was born to Charles and Meta Eberhard on March 15, 1923, on a farm west of Merrill. She attended Liberty School until she was 10, when the family moved to Le Mars where she finished her schooling. After graduating in 1940, she worked at Plymouth Coop in Le Mars. In 1944, she married L.L. Meek and they moved to Rialto, Calif., where they opened a real estate office. After her husband's death in 1948, she went to work for First American Title Co. in San Bernardino, Calif., where she was vice president. Lorene retired in 1989 and then moved to Huntington Beach, Calif., to be near her daughter.
Lorene is survived by a son, Larry and his wife, Jeannette Meek, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and a daughter Margaret and her husband Spencer Sheldon, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a step-daughter Marilyn and her husband Buster Burries, of California; a sister Clara Raby and her husband, Delbert of Merrill; a brother, Robert Eberhard of Kingsley; two sister-in-laws, Martha Eberhard of Le Mars, and Ramona Eberhard McClain of California, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Huntington Beach on Sept. 11, 2004.
