Wilton K Shillingford, 12, of Dominica, West Indies, died Monday, June 26, 2004. He was riding his bike with several friends when he was struck by a truck and never regained consciousness.
Wilton Shillingford was born May 5, 1992, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. His mother, Gloria Shillingford was a Dominican non-traditonal student who graduated from Westmar in 1992, and returned to Dominica. She has several years of teaching experience on the island of Dominica in the Carribean.
Due to a number of challenging medical circumstances for both mother and baby, several people in Le Mars were involved in the care of both the mother and child.
Wilton is survived by his mother, Gloria; a sister, Cheryl in Houston, Texas; a brother, Dion who is a student in Cuba, and another brother, Keskim, who is a teacher in Dominica.
The funeral will be held Saturday, July 3, at their Methodist church in Dominica. Gloria is currently an administrator of a school of 500. Her address is: Gloria Shillingford, St. Andrews High School, % Wesley High School, Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies.
