Patrick "Pat" Roder, 51, of Cherokee and formerly of Remsen, died suddenly Friday, June 4, 2004, at his residence in Cherokee of natural causes.
Patrick Roder was born Sept. 23, 1952, at Le Mars, the son of Jerry and Peg Roder. He was raised in the Remsen area and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School from which he graduated in 1970. He was then employed at the Remsen Lumber Company for several years.
He worked most of his life in the road construction industry as a concrete finisher and was most recently employed at Advanced Brands in Orange City.
His friends all knew him as "Smoky" and he will be greatly missed.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Remsen.
Survivors include his mother, Peg of Sioux City; three sisters, Susan and her husband, Fred Brown, Gerianne and here husband, Tom Olson, Janice Roder, all of Sioux City; five brothers, his twin brother Michael, and Steven and his wife, Sandi, all of Remsen, David at Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City, Nicholas, and Daniel and his wife, Judy, all of Sioux City; his special friend, Sue Nelson of Cherokee; 13 nieces and nephews; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Klein.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Monday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call any time after 11 a.m. until service time Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Queen of Peace at Trinity Heights in Sioux City.
