Lucille K. Schultz, 88, of Le Mars, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Lucille Katherine Schultz was born Nov. 12, 1915, near Le Mars, the daughter of William and Mathilda (Draheim) Schultz. Lucille was raised on the family farm in Stanton Township and attended country school near her home. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School.
Following high school, Lucille attended Morningside College and later transferred to the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo., where she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1955. She then furthered her education at the College of Saint Mary at Saint Catherine's Hospital in Omaha, Neb., graduating with a degree in medical record science in 1961.
Lucille had worked as a medical secretary from 1954 to 1960. She was head of the medical record department at St. Vincent Hospital in Sioux City from 1962 to 1967. She later worked as a consultant with various hospital in Northwest Iowa for a number of years. She had worked with area hospitals assisting them with state and federal accreditation standards, patient care reviews, and developing policies and procedures for medical record reporting.
Lucille loved to sew and had sewn her own clothes in her youth. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting in her spare time. Lucille also enjoyed tending to her garden and canning the fruits of her labor.
Survivors include her dear friends, LaVon and Jack Holton of Merrill and many cousins.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert in 1970.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Benjamin Meeks officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mathew Schultz, Jennifer Schultz, Tim Schultz, John Holton, Mary Holton, Annette Sitzmann, Rachel Schultz, Sarah Schultz, Alan Holton, and Andrew Schultz.
