SARASOTA, Fla. -- Garda E. Nelson, 74, of Sarasota, Fla., died Feb. 11, 2004.

She was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Austin, Minn., and moved to Sarasota in 1960 from Milwaukee, Wis.

She was a homemaker and a member of Eastern Star for 50 years. She was a member of Beneva Christian Church in Saraosta, Happy Hearts, and Bee Ridge Women's Club.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Charleen and John Valentine of Le Mars; a son, Scott Jenson of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Bill Slidell of Sarasota, Fla., Jennifer and Jim Madsen, Adrienne Valentine and Laura Valentine, all of Le Mars, Cory Jenson and Katie Jenson, both of Sarasota, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday at Beneva Christian Church.
