Brian is the son of Dan and JoAnn Singer of Le Mars. He is a 1989 graduate of Gehlen Catholic High School, and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. After college, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania. Later he earned a graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC. He is the founder of Project Zawadi, a non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities within a nurturing envioronment to orphaned and other vulnerable Tanzanian children.
Karen is the daughter of Josip and Regina Stupic of Seymour, Conn. She graduated in 1991 from Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Conn. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in art history from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. and attended the American University in Washington, D.C. for graduate studies in arts management. Karen is executive director of the Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre in New York City. She also serves on project Zawadi's board of directors.
