Agnes Elaine Klein, 88, of Granville, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Agnes Elaine Klein was born Jan. 27, 1915, at rural Granville, the daughter of Jacob B. and Cecelia (Goebel) Klein. Aggie was raised in the Granville area and received her education in the rural school system and later at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Granville. After her education, she continued to live and help work on the family farm. She and her brother Leo later moved into Granville where they made their home.
She had been a resident of the Happy Siesta Health Care Center since Oct. 1, 2002.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. Throughout her life, Aggie loved to travel, garden and visit her relatives.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Ann Penning of Granville and Sister Tresa Klein, O.S.F. of Dubuque; one sister-in-law, Luella Klein of Granville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ann and her husband Edward Penning, Sister Oda Klein, O.S.F. who died Dec. 4, 2003; four brothers, Nick, Henry and his wife Evelyn, Leo and Lawrence Klein; and a brother-in-law, Julius Penning.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville with Msgr. Kenneth Seifried officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Granville. Friends may call any time after 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the church. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.
Casketbearers will be Mark and Keith Kellen, Brad Ackerman, Harold Naber, Leon Pottebaum and Joe Gaul.
