Ardie W. Herbst, 88, of Merrill, died Tuesday, Jan.13, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Ardie William Herbst was born Jan. 29, 1915, in Merrill, the son of Guss H. and Katie (Arbuck) Herbst. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sioux City. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1933.

He loved farming and up until his health no longer allowed some four years ago, he could be seen driving his truck around to survey his farms.
