Ambrose H. 'Big John' Krogman

MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Ambrose H. "Big John" Krogman, 77, of Muscatine, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Riverbend Nursing Center, Muscatine.

Mr. Krogman was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Granville, the son of John and Mary Krogman. He married Nola Bailey on May 9, 1964, in Muscatine.

Mr. Krogman was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in Korea. He was a commercial electrician for P and S Electric.

Ambrose was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing and helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Nola Krogman of Muscatine; one son, David Krogman and his wife, Sue, of Muscatine; one stepson, Randy Schuhow and his wife, Carrie, of Davenport; four stepdaughters, Shelia Van Dusen and her husband, Joe, of Atalissa, Deborah Wilson, of Muscatine, Patricia Marolf and her husband, Ben, of Wilton, and Lori Jaco and her husband, Jim, of Richmond, Va.; 22 grandchildren, Dave Krogman, Bill Krogman, Angie Krogman, Desie Krogman, Margaret Krogman, Rachel Krogman, Reggie Krogman, Sherry Thomas, Angie Boris, Amber Lautier, Randy Browning, Jim Van Dusen, Rick Van Dusen, Harlan Wilson, Lance Wilson, Toni Jo Wilson, Lyndsay Schuhow, Kayte Schuhow, Joe Schuhow, Matthew Wyatt, Casey Wyatt, Steven Wyatt; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milo Krogman of Kingsley, and Germaine Cronin of Holstein; two sisters, Marvel "Mert" Pick and Lorna Majeres, both of Remsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in Muscatine, with the Rev. Pam Saturnia officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muscatine. A luncheon will follow the committal service at the American Legion.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be left at Internet address www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
