LAKE PARK -- Mathilda 'Tillie' McClure, 90, of Lake Park, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Lakes Regional Hospital.
Mathilda Katherine Ritterholz McClure was born March 2, 1913, at Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Knight) Ritterholz. As a young child, she moved with her family to a farm near Terril, and later moved to a farm south of Lake Park.
On March 12, 1930, she was married to David McClure at Elk Point, S.D. They lived in Lake Park and farmed until retirement in 1969. Following retirement, they wintered in Benson, Ariz.
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Mathilda worked as a seamstress, grocery clerk, dental assistant, and was a home health aide for many years. She loved to garden, read and spend time with her family.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park.
She moved to Wel-Life in Spirit Lake in 2001. When her health failed, she was a resident of Lake Park Care Center for a short time.
Survivors include her children, Myrna Matthiesen, David McClure and his wife, Betty, and Wesley McClure and his wife, Tina, all of Lake Park, and Rita Heimsoth and her husband, James, of Le Mars; nine grandchldren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Lovella Ritterholz and Floma Coffee; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David in 1988; a daughter, Julie; a son-in-law, Dallas Matthiesen; her parents; three brothers, B.J., Andrew and Bill Ritterholz, and three sisters, Marie Bahl, Betty Rosewarren and Vera Nauss..
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Friday) at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park, with burial in the Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. The Rev. Donna Gray will officiate.
Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren, Scott McClure, Sandy Untiedt, Doug McClure, Sheila Storey, Jill Miksch, Jay Heimsoth, Chuck Matthiesen, Mike Matthiesen and Josh McClure.
