WYOMING, Minn. -- Ruby VanMaasdam, 81, of Wyoming, Minn., and a former Le Mars area resident, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Wyoming.
The former Ruby Engelbrecht was born June 30, 1922, in Le Mars, the daughter of Emil and Grace (Wevik) Engelbrecht. She grew up in the Le Mars, Remsen and Maurice area, graduating from Maurice High School.
On Jan. 5, 1943, she married Don VanMaasdam in Dakota City, Neb. The family lived in the Maurice and Le Mars area from 1950 to 1970 when they moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in Minnesota.
Ruby was a homemaker and had been a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wyoming.
Survivors include her husband, Don; children, Judy VanMaasdam, Diane Cable and her husband, Gordon, and Terry and Jeannie VanMaasdam; five grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Brunken.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Minn., with burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the church.
The Mattson Funeral Home of Forest Lake, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.
