RICHMOND, Calif. -- Leona Hartman, 84, of Richmond, Calif., and formerly of the Craig and Akron area, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at her home in Richmond.
The former Leona Jurgensen was born March 22, 1919, on a farm at rural Akron, Plymouth County, the daughter of William and Laura (Klemme) Jurgenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron.
On Oct. 8, 1939, she married Bill Hartman.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; a son, Dick and his wife, Barbara, and a daughter Janice and her husband, Pat, all of Richmond, Calif.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Grosenheider and her husband, Fred, Lavonne Baack, all of Le Mars, and Marlene Eichacker and her husband, Lloyd of Arvada, Colo.;
a brother, Robert Jurgenson and his wife, Beverly, of Sioux City; a
sister-in-law, Ruth Jurgenson of Le Mars and a brother-in-law, William Johnson of Longmont, Colo.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donnie; her parents, Bill and Laura Jurgensen; a brother, Norman Jurgensen and a sister, Shirley Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. (today) Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond, Calif.
