MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Charles K. Meins, Sr., 75, of Manchester, N.H., and an Akron native, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the Elliott Hospital following a brief illness.

Charles K. Meins, Sr., was born Dec. 13, 1927, at Akron, the son of Frederick Wilhelm Albert and Margaretta Elise (Mangelsen) Meins. He had been a resident of Manchester, N.H., for the last 10 years.

He served in the U.S. Army and held membership in the American Legion Wm. Sweeney Post. He was also a board member with the AARP.

Survivors include his wife, Alice J. (Carstensen) Meins of Manchester, N.H.; one son, Charles K. Meins Jr. of Chelmsford, Mass.; two grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Lafrenz of Luverne, Minn., Evelynn Taggart of Vermillion, S.D., and Anna Wilkinson of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, June Lynn Meins.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., Manchester, N.H. Burial will be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at Boscawen, N.H. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the N.J. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home.
