Josephine "Isabel" Fox, 92, of Le Mars and a Plymouth County native, died Tuesday Oct. 21, 2003, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
The former Josephine "Isabel" Kemp was born April 11, 1911, in Le Mars, the daughter of Joseph and Lena (Reinart) Kemp. She was raised and educated at St. Catherine's Grade School in Oyens. Isabel worked as a waitress for the Union Hotel for many years.
In 1939, Isabel married Dale Fox at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. They moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1942 and lived there until Dale's death in 1965. Isabel returned to Oyens to be close to family and help care for her brother. She was a longtime resident of Floyd Valley Apartments until moving to Brentwood.
Isabel was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and The Christian Mothers Society in Le Mars.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards and attending family gatherings.
Survivors include a daughter: Carol Williams of Porter, Texas; a son, Terry Fox and his wife Susan of Lakewood, Calif.; three grandchildren; Barrett Williams and his wife Paula of Porter, Texas, Melissa Williams, of Austin, Texas, and Nichole Fox of Lakewood, Calif.; a great-grandson, Michael and great-granddaughter, Ashley Williams, both of Porter, Texas; a sister, Rita Haack and her husband, Earl, of Le Mars; and a brother Kenneth Kemp and his wife, Carol, of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale; her parents; four sisters; Colletta Peters, Connie Cockrell, Helen Phelan and Margaret White; and four brothers; Cletus, Harold, Joseph in infancy, and Anthony.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Andrew Hoffmann officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Oyens.
Friends may call anytime after 3 p.m. Friday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.
