Clara Brzuchalski, 90, of Le Mars, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Clara Brzuchalski was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Le Mars, the daughter of Carl and Ida (Hansen) Sanow. She was raised and educated in the Le Mars area.
Clara was involved in the restaurant business in Le Mars for much of her life. She owned and operated the Town & Country Café and the Highway Tap. She also worked at the Truck Haven Restaurant and Brownie's Lunch. Clara was also employed as a housekeeper for many years at the Sacred Heart Hospital (now Floyd Valley Hospital) in Le Mars.
Clara remained in Le Mars for her retirement years and lived with her son, Leonard.
Survivors include three sons, Leonard of Le Mars, Richard of Sioux City, and John and his wife, Lilas, of Algona; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Morgan of Sioux City and Betty Becker and her husband, Robert, of Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Frances; a brother Leon Sanow; and three sisters, Ella Copeland, Adeline Penne and Louise Albright.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will follow at the Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral on Thursday.
