LE MARS-- Jerry Konz, 57, of Le Mars died Monday Aug. 25, 2003, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars after he was stricken with an apparent heart attack at work.
Jerome Vernon Konz was born Dec. 7, 1945, on the family farm near Remsen, the son of Peter and Callista (Schiltz) Konz. He grew up near Remsen and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1964. After high school, Jerry joined the National Guard. He then attended De Vry Tech in Chicago, Ill. His company in the National Guard was activated and Jerry was stationed at Fort Carson during the Viet Nam War.
He married Virginia Miller on July 6, 1968, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars.
Jerry pursued a career working with cars and was employed for more than 25 years with the Chevrolet dealership in Le Mars managing the body shop. He currently was operating K Boys in Le Mars.
Jerry was a member of the American Legion, Wasmer Post #241 and the Eagles Club (F.O.E.) Aerie #1381 in Le Mars.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Konz and his wife Frankie and Steven Konz, all of Le Mars; a granddaughter Savanna; two brothers, Don Konz and his wife Virginia of Remsen, and Duane Konz of Anaheim, Calif.; and a sister Mary Burke of Elkhorn, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Alice Mae Konz in infancy; and a brother Kenneth Konz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Andrew Hoffmann presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Military Honors will be conducted at the gravesite by the American Legion, Wasmer Post #241.
Friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
