CLEGHORN -- Glenn W. Rohlfsen, 86, of Cleghorn, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Glenn William Rohlfsen was born Dec. 29, 1916, in Baker Township, O'Brien County, the son of William and Wilhemina (Steinberg) Rohlfsen. He received his education in country school and later at the school in Paullina. On Nov. 1, 1939, he was united in marriage to Violet Olson in Cherokee. After their marriage, the couple farmed north of Marcus until 1948, when they moved to a farm near Larrabee where they operated a gravel and excavating business. The couple moved to Cleghorn in 1977. Violet Rohlfsen died Sept. 28, 2002, in Spirit Lake.
Glenn remained in the family home until entering St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, where he died, reaching the age of 86 years, seven months and 21 days.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus.
Survivors include his two daughters and their husbands, Diana and Charles Foster, and Louise and Larry McCullough, all of Storm Lake; one son and his wife, Mike and Amy Rohlfsen of Le Mars; four grandchildren, Jennifer McCullough, Staci and her husband, Gabe Morgan, Chad and Bo Rohlfsen; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Sierra Thompson; one brother and his wife, Clarence and Virginia Rohlfsen of Granville; and three sisters, Minnie and her husband, Howard Halstrom of Paullina, Erma Bradley of San Diego, Calif., and Helen and her husband, Norman Schultz of Solvang, Calif.; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus with the Rev. James Gruber officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
