C. Rod Music, 50, of Brunsville, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, of injuries from an automobile accident near Vermillion, S.D.

Charles Rodney Music was born April 11, 1953, in Paintsville, Ky., the son of Donald and Lorraine (Bowling) Music. As a young child, Rod moved to the Grand Rapids, Mich., area. He graduated from Kellogsville High School in 1972. Following high school, Rod attended a vocational-technical school in Grand Rapids. He married Mary Baker in 1974 in Sioux Center. In 1975 he moved to Maurice, and was employed with Dyna Tech in Sioux Center and later with Kooima's Mfg., in Rock Valley. He later moved to Hull, and established the Pizza Ranch in LuVerne, Minn.

He began his career with Wells' Dairy, Inc., in 1992. He worked at the South Ice Cream Plant on the break crew. He moved to Le Mars in 1998.

Rod was united in marriage to Marilyn Hazel on April 12, 2003, at Calvin Christian Reformed Church. Rod and Marilyn made their home in Brunsville.

Rod was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars. He belonged to the Midwestern Corvette Society in Sioux City and enjoyed motorcycling, playing the guitar and doing home improvements.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Brunsville; three children, Wendy Frohwein and her husband, Lyle, of New Holland, S.D., Ryan Music of Hospers, and Stephanie Music and her fiancÚ, Nicholas Zakrzewski ,of Clear Lake, S.D.; his parents, Donald and Lorraine Music of Byron Center, Mich.; a brother, Timothy and his wife, Sharon Music, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; several nephews and a niece; his mother-in-law, Velva Shea of Remsen; in-laws, Don and Mary Shea of Le Mars, Barbara Shea, Betty Shea, Kathy and Bob Peterson, all of Des Moines, Pat Brown of Elko, Nev., Geraldine and Sean Peters of Fredericksburg, Va., and Julie Shea of Sioux City; Marilyn's children, Stephannie Fiedler and her husband, Chad, of Council Bluffs, and Nicholas Hazel of Postville; two grandsons, Cory and Gregory Frohwein of New Holland, S.D.; and Marilyn's grandsons, Dallas and Shea Fiedler of Council Bluffs.

Rod was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Norlan Van Beek and the Rev. Dale Fopma officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. today (Wednesday), at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends, with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lyle Frohwein, Nicholas Zakrzewski, Chad Fiedler, Lloyd Wilson, Chris Swanbers, and Joe Lehner.
