You could say Le Mars had two of almost everything on the Class 3A District 1 all-district football team that has been released.
Coach Jim Boyd's Bulldogs, which this season qualified for the Class 3A State Playoffs for the fourth time in the last five years, featured two offensive linemen, two offensive backs, two linebackers and two defensive backs on the first team. All of them were part of a squad that was 6-1 in Class 3A District 1 and 7-3 overall, following a 19-15 loss to Denison-Schleswig in the first round of the Class 3A State Playoffs.
Quarterback Paul Brown and runningback Darrin Nelson were featured on the first-team offense. Nelson, a starter for the second straight season as a halfback, rushed 93 times for 648 yards and nine touchdowns. Twice this season, the speedster topped the 100-yard barrier, with a season-best 124 yards during a 28-21 loss in the regular-season finale to Maurice-Orange City/Floyd Va
