The Gehlen Catholic High football team will put on its pads against Clay Central-Everly tonight at 7:30 p.m. The game will be played in Royal.
The Jays two-coach system will be tested for the second straight game week since this arrangement has been made.
"I think it works out well because each coach has his own job or responsibilities," said co-coach Tony Gunter, who also calls the plays on offense. "I take suggestions (from other coaches), but they don't bother me."
Erv Whitehead, a wide receiver/defensive back specialist who plays with the Sioux City Bandits, doesn't mess around with the offense play calling.
"I don't mess (Gunter) up too much," Whitehead said. "I help along with the defensive calls.
"We have a defensive coordinator (Paul Ellensohn) who does a great job. I'm just an extra set of eyes."
Ellensohn, Gunter and Whitehad will have a load to look at tonight with CC-E.
"They run a power set and have a fullback that is strong, and has some speed," Whitehead said.
