The fifth annual Le Mars Community Music Boosters auction will be held this Friday, March 22, starting at 7:05 p.m. in the high school's Little Theater. The auction follows the boosters' annual soup and pie supper, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
Auction items will be on display in the high school lobby that evening, where a bake sale will also be held. Tickets will be on sale for raffle items and several items will be up for silent auction.
Musical entertainment before the auction will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m., and will include a string duet by Brent Herrig and Meredith French, vocal duet by Kelly Kruse and Alecia Lubinus, and songs by the boys triple trio.
The last item on the Music Boosters' auction will be the activities quilt, featuring embroidered squares donated by students' families highlighting the activities students are involved in. Gail Jones, Sharon's Embroidery and the ladies of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars have all been a part of making this year's quilt possible. It is displayed in Lacy Lovelies Fashion Fabrics in downtown Le Mars.
Over 60 items have been donated for the auction, which will be conducted by auctioneers Ken Schlichte and Chuck Hardie. They include the framed and signed Concert and Chamber Choir photos as well as other photos by Christopher's Photography, Lasting Image and Nancy's Photography. All have been matted and framed by Happy Hang-ups. Beautiful creations have been donated by local artists Glenda Drennen, Jane Schultz, Karen Schnepf, Gary Larson, Bruce Shostak, Amy Gerking, Byron Bulthuis, Ken French and Marilyn Mead, and stained glass items by Bogenrief's and Nancy Augustine. Other items are a catered meal for eight, golf lessons, pizzas, gift certificates, cheese cakes, meat, movie passes, ceiling fan, a Terry Redlin print, ice cream social basket, Postal Playhouse memberships, a night at a motel, a music stand, savings bonds, flowers, a manicure, a pedicure, hair cut, hair products, party sub, pillow, decorated cake, a duffel bag, YMCA Youth membership, Iowa gift basket, Dept.
