Warrant issued for Swanson

Tuesday, April 23, 2002

An arrest warrant has been issued for former Kingsley Police Chief Ken Swanson for failure to appear in Plymouth County District Court.

Swanson was to appear for probation revocation Monday afternoon; but, according to an order for a warrant signed by Judge Robert C. Clem, Swanson failed to appear.

A warrant has been issued and bail set at $10,000.

Swanson was sentenced in May 2001 through a plea agreement on five counts of supplying alcohol to a person under legal age, a serious misdemeanor.

The sentence included 14 days in the O'Brien County jail, two years probation, a $500 fine, court costs and a statutory surcharge. The amount totaled $3,280, according to Sioux County Attorney Mark Schouten, who served as special prosecutor for Plymouth County. The charges stem from incidents that occurred in Kingsley in September, 2000.
