Fire investigated in rural Remsen

No one was injured in a garage fire which also involved part of a house in rural Remsen early Saturday morning.

Garry Ward, 45346 230th St., called the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office at 2:12 a.m., alerting the Remsen Fire Department to the garage on fire at his residence. When sheriff's deputies arrived, the garage was fully involved and the left side of the house had extensive damage.

Also totaled in the fire was a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora and a jet ski with a trailer, according to sheriff's office records. The Remsen Fire Department did not return to base until 5:40 a.m.

Assisting in the fire and investigation were the Remsen Fire Department and Rescue, the Remsen Police Department, the Marcus Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall. Investigation is continuing, according to the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office.
