Community Center project brings Merrill together (08/08/11)
Every Tuesday since the first of the year, a building where children once learned has been the destination for volunteers in Merrill. They're creating Kissinger Community Center inside the former Kissinger Elementary School building. The City of Merrill bought the property for $1 after Le Mars Community School Board of Education closed the school at the end of the 2009-2010 school year...
Genealogy fair (08/08/11)
Exhibits at the Genealogy Fair sponsored by the Computer Genies of NW Iowa Saturday featured displays of family history and pictures, country schoolhouses, and indexing of area cemeteries. This display by Janice Albert, of Le Mars, starts with a Civil War ancestor. Notebooks filled with documents and pictures of ancestors were also on display. Local expert to help with mental health reform (08/08/11)
The Iowa Legislature wanted to make changes to the state's mental health delivery system and it asked area experts for help.
