LCHS presents holiday concert 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 (12/17/10)
The final school holiday concert of for 2010 will be presented by Le Mars Community High School musicians and vocalists at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Carey Gymnasium. Theater planner anticipates early spring opening (12/17/10)
After some minor delays, the man behind the renovations at Le Mars' movie theater says work will begin full-throttle by early 2011 with an opening date likely in early March. Eric Hilsabeck, who has restored several theaters including Sioux City's Riviera, said he will take ownership of Royal 3 theater on Central Avenue by the end of this month after a delay on the seller's side...
R-U Government class digs into crime scene investigation (12/17/10)
A government class at Remsen-Union Community Schools put on a simulation CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) project recently. Running November 29 through December 6 at the school, the project tied into a chapter the class was studying about law and the rights of American citizens...

Gladys (De Jager) Hoekstra-Mulder, 94, of Orange City, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Mark Haverdink and the Rev. Harlan De Jong will officiate.
