The No. 14 Gehlen Catholic girls cross country team finished one place better than its ranking as the Lady Jays raced to a 13th-place finish in the Class 1A state meet on Saturday in Fort Dodge. Pekin won the state title with 45 points while Earlham was second with 87. Top-ranked Tri-Center finished third with 91 while Gehlen tallied 267 in its first state team appearance since a 12th-place finish in 2004...
