"Obviously we would like to get up to that first spot."...

Autumn will soon be here. The signs of its arrival are all around us: shorter days, cooler evenings, dewy mornings, schools resuming classes and a general, barely discernible change in the air. In a few weeks, it will be here, full on. But right now, fall is just off in the distance, like a thunderstorm on the northern horizon -- you know it will be arriving, but for now, you can enjoy the calm before the storm...
A little help, please? (08/20/09)
If you would look up the word "tenacity" in the dictionary, you might very well see a referring entry, "see Le Mars Area Dialysis Services (LADS)." Every since a group of dedicated volunteers began work years ago to bring kidney dialysis service to Le Mars, they have quietly gained the support of the community and have raised $1 million and $7,000, leaving them $193,000 short of their $1.2 million goal. We incorrectly reported the total amount raised as $1.7 million yesterday...
