Marge Molzen was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Hawarden, the daughter of Peter Lyle and Ruth (Rifenbark) Thompson. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1945. She worked as a bookkeeper for Rex Truesdell gas station and trucking prior to her marriage to Glenn A. Molzen Jan. 21, 1954, in Hawarden. They lived on the Molzen family farm east of Akron.
