Rohde headed to prison after probation revoked (03/27/09)

The judge at the time, Judge Duane Hoffmeyer, suspended a ten-year prison sentence and put Rohde on probation instead...
New café offers a hub for Merrill (03/27/09)
Almost every table is packed. The clanking and sizzling sound of cooking spills out from the kitchen. Laughter and chatter fills the room. Especially considering the fact there's no sign outside, except for "Open."...

Rain floods church basement, cancels program (03/27/09)
In the days of Noah, God promised not to flood the entire earth again. He didn't promise not to flood the basement of the United Methodist Church of Le Mars. That's exactly what happened Monday night when the pouring rain hit. Water as deep as 3 inches covered the basement floor, and although volunteers scrambled to get the water out, the resulting mess caused church members to cancel a children's program for the month of April...

Hindsight is 20/20: Google perfects the 'undo' button (03/27/09)
"Jesse, shut up! I can't concentrate," I shout as I find the "control + z" keys on my computer. Mumbling expletives under my breath, I am relieved to know that someone was smart enough to give me the power to "undo" and "step backwards" as I design the sports pages every night...
Congress has a panic attack (03/27/09)
A 21st-century political maxim goes something like this: When the going gets tough, create a diversion. Faced with a recession that appeared virtually unfazed by $3 trillion (so far) in federal bailouts and handouts, Congress looked for ways to detract from the failed policies that resulted in the credit meltdown, mortgage failures, home foreclosures, spiraling unemployment, bankruptcies and government spending of historic proportions...
