Schedules change for New Year's (12/30/03)
The Daily Sentinel will be closed New Year's Day and there will be no paper published that Thursday. There will be no mail delivery Jan. 1 and post office service will be closed Thursday. Driver's license service at the courthouse will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 and Wednesday, Dec. 31. Next week driver's license service returns to Wednesdays and Thursdays...
City will pick up Christmas trees (12/30/03)
The City of Le Mars will pick up Christmas trees curbside Monday, Jan. 6, weather permitting. They will make one pass through the whole town. Any trees not by the curb during the pass will not be picked up. As in the past, the city requests there be no ornaments, tinsel, plastic bags or stands left on the trees...

Robert G. Badgerow, 79, of Harrison, Ark., and formerly of Le Mars, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. Robert G. Badgerow was born June 4, 1924, in Moville, the son of Bert and Lillian Badgerow. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1945 to 1946, and then married his wife, Carol Higginbotham, on May 9, 1946...
Bypass moratorium is short sighted (12/30/03)
Iowa Department of Transportation Director Mark Wandro, in a copyright interview with the Des Moines Register, tells Iowans that new four-lane highways will go through towns instead of bypassing them.
