Two LCHS musicians in fourth All-State Festival (11/21/02)
When the first notes of the 56th Annual Iowa All-State Music Festival ring out Saturday evening, two Le Mars Community High School students will be part of a small group of students who have performed at the festival for four years. Alecia Lubinus will sing in the alto I section of the 600-voice chorus and Matthew Bannerman will be playing first trombone in the 277-piece band at 7:30 p.m. ...
Lighted Christmas parade is lining up (11/21/02)
The lights will shine on Central Avenue in Le Mars with the Sixth Annual Earle Utesch Memorial Children's Lighted Christmas Parade takes off Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. "There will be new floats and old favorites in the parade," said Stan Culley of Le Mars. Culley and Dick Masuen, organizers of the parade, have already received inquires from parade participants, and report they have over 30 floats already lined up...
Registrations due Friday (11/21/02)
The Plymouth County auditor's office has already processed 557 requests for absentee ballots for the special election Dec. 3 in the Remsen-Union Community School District. Voters are asked "yes" or "no" to allow the district to issue general obligation bonds up to $5.5 million to build a new elementary school onto the high school. Also in the referendum is to remodel and repair the adjoining middle and high school buildings, improving the site...

Even more of an accomplishment is the way DaWesterners understand all the variations of a theme he gives them.
