Indoor Aquatic Center
Le Mars' indoor aquatic center is opening for the first time this weekend, and they're inviting swimmers to jump in for free every weekend in March.
The $2.4 million project -- complete with a four-lane pool, current channel, two water slides, spouts, buckets and cannons -- took nearly two years and transformed what used to be the Westmar College Gymnasium into a multi-use water recreation center.
Crews began tearing up the former Westmar Gymnasium floor in March 2005 to prepare for the new indoor aquatic center.
