Brynlie Daale, 6, center, liked meeting Edward the Hedgehog during a Blank Park Zoo presentation at the Le Mars Public Library Monday. Edward, an African pigmy hedgehog, was a favorite of the 75 children who attended the zoo presentation. Edward has a nose for sniffing out bugs to eat. Edward has a sister at the zoo -- Alice.

Samantha Dunn, a presenter for Blank Park Zoo of Des Moines, travels to libraries to give presentations of zoo animals. She introduced children to Zooby Girl, a Senegal Parrot at Monday's program at the Le Mars Public Library. She loves to eat seeds and is mischevious and sassy. Senegal Parrots make good pets and can live to be 50 years old.

Samuel Arredondo of Le Mars wasn't too sure he wanted to meet Dill the Tiger Salamander at the Monday program at the Le Mars Public Library. This salamander is 17 years old and can live to be 20 years old. Salamanders live by streams and ponds and only come out at night. They have no teeth and eat plants, baby birds and baby frogs.
