(Sentinel Photos by Beverly Van Buskirk/Photos Contributed) Students in TK-12th grade across Plymouth County headed to school on Friday, Aug. 23 for the first day of the 2019-2020 school year. With temperatures in the low 80’s, Friday’s weather made for the perfect conditions to take last minute family photos together outside of the child’s school, catch up with old friends, give last minute hugs and kisses to their loved ones, and even blow a few bubbles to commemorate the special day. Le Mars Community, Gehlen Catholic, Akron-Westfield, Hinton, Kingsley-Pierson, MMCRU and Remsen St. Mary’s all were back in session Friday to kick off the new year. Classes will resume today before dismissing for Labor Day weekend on Friday.
