MMCRU High School Holiday Concert spreads holiday cheer to audience

The MMCRU High School Band and Choir presented their Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 13 at the High School Gym in Marcus. The high school choir, under the direction of Ms. Lori Looyenga, started off the evening. Their first piece was “Amid the Falling Snow”. The second song was “That’s Christmas to Me”, which was recorded by Pentatonix and featured soloists Madison Nicks, Robert Russell, and Savannah Johnson. The last two songs of the choir’s portion of the concert were “Glow” and “Sleigh Ride”. The choir consists of the following members: sopranos, Jaylen Bork, Isabelle Bush, Caitlyn Evans, Kristina Goth, Halle Kenney, Makenzie Meyer, Ariana Norfolk, Elizabeth Pedersen, Alissah Poppema, Emily Rains, Molly Reuter, Emily Rigney, and Victoria Rojas; altos, Autum Bonnstetter, Darley Carrillo, Carolynn DeYoung, Taylor Galles, Hannah Jochims, Rebecca Jochims, Savannah Johnson, Paige Krug, Olivia Mohr, Madison Nicks, Audra Penning, Regan Peters, Rylie Poulsen, Jadee Shimitz, and Rachael VanMaanen; tenors, Preston Astidias, Ethan Gorczynski, Dakota Kasner, and Jared Krug; basses, Byron Carrillo, Joel Johnson, Robert Russell, Trevor Schneider, Keegan Stevens, and Brandon Stodden. The high school band, under the direction of Mr. David Moore, then took center stage. They performed five pieces, “O Come, Immanuel”, which featured soloist Cody Dias on the flugelhorn; “Flourishing Noels”, “O Holy Night”, “Silent Night”, which was arranged by Mr. Moore and featured soloist Allison Gregg on the clarinet; and “Feliz Navidad”. Band members include: flute, Faith Olson; clarinets, Allison Gregg and Abby VanMaanen; alto saxophones, Lexi Dreckman, Mattie Dias, and Sarah Kliever; tenor saxophone, Brynn Jones; trumpets, Cody Dias and Heather Schmidt; trombones, Tyler Frederes and Brett Staab; baritone, Damien Baker; and percussion, Katie Bush, Jared Hinspeter, Olivia Mohr, Braeden Kamphoff, and Eban Hicks.
