American Legion Wasmer Post #241 of Le Mars conducted its 53rd annual Avenue of Flags Memorial Day program at the Plymouth County Courthouse. One of the traditions of the program is the wreath presentation by Wasmer Post and American Legion Auxiliary members for wars and conflicts which involved Americans: Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Post-Vietnam conflicts, and War on Terrorism. A total of 1,330 flags were posted on the grounds, with 27 new flags dedicated to the memory of recently deceased veterans. People attending found shady areas to sit as the temperatures soared to above 90 degrees. Turn to page 14 for more photos from the program.
