The gift of Advent

(Sentinel Photos by Beverly Van Buskirk) Gehlen Catholic School students assembled Advent Bags for local shut-ins and care center residents Wednesday, and then delivered them. Students, faculty and staff purchased lip balm, hand lotion, socks, individually wrapped Kleenex packages, York peppermint patties and lens wipes for glasses. Junior and senior high school students were paired with elementary classrooms to prepare the Advent gift bags and sign a Christmas card. New this year is an ornament made from the fronts of Christmas cards. The ornament was tied to the handle of each bag.
