Tiny Tots celebrate fall with activities
By: Megan Sabin On Saturday morning, September 9, the Remsen Public Library held a Tiny Tots Storytime at 10 a.m. with a story and activities for children to enjoy. Janeene Klein started off the morning by reading a story called “Little Elliot Fall Friends” by Mike Curato. The setting for this story was “It’s autumn in the Big City. Little Elliot and Mouse love the hustle and bustle of the city streets. But sometimes it feels like there are too many people, too many noises - just too much. The best friends decide to get out of town for a vacation in the countryside. There, they’ll discover the sights and smells of autumn in the country. Everything is more fun when shared with a friend.” After the story, the librarians handed out some leaves for the children to help learn their autumn colors with the song “Autumn Leaves are Falling Down” by The Kiboomers. This was a great fall song for preschool and kindergarten children as it helps teach autumn colors, and activities associated with fall. The last project involved a tree paper and the children had to add leaves made up of the children’s fingerprints with different colored ink.
