Back to School GLOW Walk brings families together
By: Megan Sabin Around 90 people participated in the Back to School GLOW Walk, which was sponsored by the Remsen Chamber of Commerce on Sunday evening, August 20, 2017. Registration started at 7 p.m. with the Fun Run/Walk starting at 8 p.m. A family movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village”, played on a big blowup screen on the tennis courts at 9 p.m. The movie was sponsored by WesTel Systems and Remsen Farmers Coop. The GLOW Walk offered a chance for family and friends to have some fun together while getting a good walk in around the Walking Trail. At the Walk, children and adults could sign-up for a drawing, of which several prizes were handed out to participants. The following were the winners of those prizes: Kids Prizes: T-Shirt - Hayden Tentinger, Lily Matgen. Golf balls - Lucas Sheehan, Tessa Tentinger. Sweat towel - Owen Schroeder. Book & Bookmark - Max Pepper, Landri Hegstorm. Free ice cream cone at Burger Barn - Ava Prescott, Lexie Delperdang, Kennedy Tentinger. Free shake at Burger Barn - Pyper Pick. Glow glasses - Levi Hoffman. Glow tongue piece - Laiken Bork. $5 Chamber bucks - Megan Roling, Xander Tentinger. Neon headbands - Eli Harpenau, Gracie Schroeder, Mya Holmes, Hallie Bunkers, Tate Tantinger, Savannah Sheehan. Adult Prizes: $25 gift certificate to Three Sisters’ Bistro - Rochelle Tentinger. Large Pizza of Choice from Mrs. B’s - Karla Pierce, Tami Schroeder. Mary Kay Basket - Stephanie Jurgens. 1 dozen Majeres Burgers & Buns - Laurie Tentinger, Laura Prescott. $5 gift certificate to Three Sisters’ Bistro - Cheri Nitzschke. T-shirt & CD - Lori Sheehan. Candle -April Jurgens. Free ice cream cone at Burger Barn - Susan Tentinger, Luke Olson. Free shake at Burger Barn - Alex Hoffman. $5 Chamber Bucks - Rick Schroeder, Erica Pepper, Terra Harpenau. RSM Baskets - Krystal Sheehan, Mya Bunkers, Mitch Roling. MMCRU Basket - Ellie Hilbrands. Donations from area businesses and organizations helped make the GLOW Walk possible. Many people and families participated in the walk and enjoyed some free glowing items from Chamber businesses, such as tattoos, glasses, glow sticks, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, along with many other freebees, such as water and popcorn.
