Wesselmann breaks 1,000 as Hawks close season with perfect record
By: Allen Hamil, Sports Editor Le Mars Daily Sentinel REMSEN -- Jacob Wesselmann cracked 1,000 career points as Remsen St. Mary's completed a perfect 20-0 regular season with a 67-22 blowout of Trinity Christian on Friday, February 10. "We played really good basketball," RSM Head Coach Scott Ruden said. "A good way to end the year." Wesselmann needed just four points to reach the mark and finished with six points in the game. He also added five assists. Scoring was in the air as 10 RSM players found the net in the game. RJ Staab led the way with a career-high 13 points for the Hawks. Colin Schroeder and Carter Kuchel were right behind with 11 points each. Schroeder also added five steals. The Hawks next play on Thursday, February 16, at home against Sioux Central or MMCRU depending on who wins Monday's (Feb. 13) district opener.
