HMS Hawks soar away with victory over MMCRU
By: Hunter Johnson, MMCRU Journalism The Royal boys' basketball team on Tuesday, Feb. 7 faced the HMS Hawks. MMCRU was doing well after the first quarter trailing only by two points with a score of 9-7. They tried to come back, but HMS kept building the lead and at halftime the score was 23-14. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 27-20 and the final score was 47-31 with HMS winning. Point leader for the Royals was Chris Schmid, who had 13 points, followed by Hunter Tentinger, who had eight. Rebound leader was again Hunter Tentinger, who had seven rebounds, followed by Chris Schmid, who had five. The team had a total of 28 rebounds, 11 steals, and 21 turnovers. Point leader for the Hawks was Hunter Orthmann, who had 13 points, followed by Jake Van Dyke with 11. Rebound leader was Hunter Orthmann, who had six rebounds, followed by Cade Schiphoff with five rebounds. The team had a total of 27 rebounds, 11 steals, and 24 turnovers. MMCRU had a field goal percentage of 24%, a two-pointer percentage of 26%, and a three-pointer percentage of 20%. HMS had a field goal percentage of 44%, a two-pointer percentage of 55%, and a three-pointer percentage of 31%. For MMCRU, Will Hunter had the best field goal percentage with 50%.
